>From Tad Cook, KT7H
Seattle, WA July 22, 1994
To All Radio Amateurs
Solar activity is still stuck in the doldrums with solar flux in the
high seventies and low eighties. A mild geomagnetic disturbance
peaked on July 16 with the A index at 26 and the K index as high as
five. Since then the K index has varied quite a bit, from one to
four.
Solar flux is expected to stay near 80 for the next month. This
weekend geomagnetic conditions could be unsettled, and the mild
upset could return around August 10 and 11.
Sunspot Numbers from July 14 through 20 were 90, 59, 76, 73, 79, 44
and 39, with a mean of 65.7. 10.7 cm flux was 81.9, 83, 82.4, 80.3,
80.1, 77.6 and 77, with a mean of 80.3.
The path projection for this week is from Seattle to Singapore.
This path looks difficult at this time. 80 meters may have an
opening around 1130z to 1230z, but it is not a strong one. Check 40
meters from 1130z to 1330z. 30 meters looks good from 1030z to
1500z. 20 meters has some possibilities around 0900z and again
around 1730z to 1800z. The bands above 20 meters do not look good
at this time.
